What heating best suits me?

When it comes to choosing your outdoor heating several options need to be considered... Does Infrared heat suit my needs or is radiant heat better? Am I better off with gas heating or electric heating?  Below is some information on each option for you to consider but never forget some form of portable heater is always a great back up tool as on busy nights you can move the heating to the spots where your fixed heating does not quite reach.

Infrared Gas Heat

Infrared energy is the most practical way to add warmth to spaces like patios, terraces, verandas, enclosed areas, or any indoor or outdoor setting where heated air cannot easily be contained and re-circulated.The advantage of this form of heating is maintained warmth even when a large volume of cold air is suddenly introduced. The efficiency of an Infrared heater is a rating of the total energy consumed by the heater compared to the amount of Infrared energy generated. This basically means they produce a high amount of infrared heat compared to the fuel that they consume making them very efficient.

Radiant Gas Heating

Radiant gas-fired heaters used for domestic and commercial heating use combustion of a fuel gas such as natural gas or propane to heat a steel emitter tube. Gas is released from a valve, and is either pushed or pulled through a cup burner, or in the case of more technologically advanced units, through a venturi.

Once the proper air -fuel ratio is achieved, the gas is then ignited, which heats the emitter tube. As the tube heats, radiant energy from the tube radiates out warming the air and as it strikes floors and other objects in the area, it warms them.

The advantage of this form of heating is consistant maintained warmth in an an area such as outdoor dining, in beer gardens, on patios etc as long as they are not exposed to windy conditions and the warm air is reasonably contained. A radiant heater is not as intensely hot when standing nearby to them such as standing by a fire vs standing close by an infrared type heater.

Infrared Electric Heat

Infrared or radiant energy is the most practical way to add warmth to spaces like patios, terraces, verandas, enclosed areas, or any indoor or outdoor setting where heated air cannot easily be contained and re-circulated. A heated quartz element emits a safe, clean wavelength of light that is only absorbed by solid objects, transferring heat directly to a person, table or floor rather than heating the air. For this reason, infrared heat can be distributed very evenly, and will not simply "blow away" in windy or drafty conditions. It is also important to note that Infratech medium wave quartz element heaters emit a barely discernible, pleasing glow that will not affect the ambience of your gathering - unlike competitive short-wave or halogen electric heaters that produce a very harsh glare or bright-colored light.
